The Brutal new Rainsford song is out.

At some point in November of 2021, I was digging through some old mp3 playlists I keep on my hard drive when a little song called "Passionate" came up and I suddenly asked myself, "man, what *is* Rainsford doing right now?"

You see, it’s been a generous while since I heard anything new from her, and while It’s obviously impossible to keep up with every single artist you’re interested in outside of social media, I’d often check in to see any new releases on Rainey’s spotify, just ‘cause I’ve been really hoping for an EP.

Fast forward to the *right now*, and the answer to that question is twofold. For one, Rainey Qualley was focused on her acting throughout most of 2021, where you can see her in stuff like "The Shuroo Process" or "Ultrasound". And two, Rainsford is officially releasing *earlier today* her newest single featuring the always amazing Anna Of The North.

"Brutal" is the name of this new release by actress, model, writer, creative director, and -of course- Singer and songwriter RAINSFORD. The track features the characteristic hypnotic and Atmospheric instrumental soundscapes that almost convince you're either dreaming or listening to dream-pop, but as many have pointed out (and Rainey seems to agree): The true nature of the "genre" she most comfortably sits in is that of "weird-pop", a sound for which she's kind of a hero and a champion among her many die-hard fans.

For Rainey, a love that's stalling the upswing or the fall is something stagnant that suffocates you slowly. The Anticipation and unknowing can be a maddening and chilling tension that stretches you past capacity. She would much rather have some old-fashioned brutal honesty either way, as in her own words: " “brutal is better than confused.”

The Quality of both Anna and Rainey together is not something that I expected to stumble upon today, but I sure am pleased to get such a pleasant surprise. I’m also more than a little excited too, as this song marks an exciting new chapter in the ongoing Rainsfordsaga, as much more content is headed our way, Perhaps even a full-length album release? I can only guess and hope, but Qualley *did* promise a "ton of new music collabs" alongside a flurry of other projects.

Say no more! I await eagerly for more Rainsford.
