Channeling the transcendent spirits of Arvo Pärt, Erik Satie, and Boards of Canada, he crafts sonic landscapes that beckon the listener to abandon the familiar and embark upon a journey to the outer reaches of both the classical and the avant-garde. His collaborations resulted in landmark projects, including tracks appearing in the American series “How to Get Away With Murder,” “Ray Donovan” and others.

Now, as the head of his own label, Whales Records, Julien Marchal has unveiled his new offering, the arresting "Insight LIII." A new opus in his acclaimed “Insight” series. Which  –as the name suggests– offers a privileged point of view to an audience now privy to the intimacies that his mind reveals through the notes he composes. The exquisite piece marks a return to his piano recordings after a two-year hiatus.

Julien's musical odyssey has taken him from the hallowed halls of the Bordeaux Conservatory, where his studies in musicology imbued his craft with a multifaceted elegance, to the realms of collaboration. Joining forces with the likes of German electronic auteur Robot Koch, he has lent his virtuosic touch to landmark projects, captivating audiences on both the small screen and the concert stage.

As Julien Marchal prepares to embark on a tour of Europe and North America in 2025, his status as a visionary in the realm of piano-driven composition is cemented. With "Insight LIII," he has once more proven himself an alchemist of sound, transmuting the mundane into the sublime, and offering a tantalizing glimpse to a whole new horizon of works to come.
