The lyrics of "Hold My Hand" are both poetic and relatable, with phrases like:

I can change my plans
No I won’t forget about you
Now you’re just someone I knew

I wrote the hook of the song in the car coming from creating the basic layout with my producer, Harry Eagan”, Goldie says, at the time she adds, “The lyrics became pretty difficult for me to write after the hook, which came so easily. Harry and I wanted the lyrics to be perfect since the track and hook felt bigger than the both of us. We challenged ourselves with how my feelings about my past relationship were being interpreted lyrically and I don’t think the song would’ve felt nearly as impactful without Harry pushing me as hard as he did”.

Hold My Hand is a breakup song that makes you want to get up and dance. It’s very much like dancing around to your biggest tragedy”, the artist said.
