I STILL REMEMBER THE DAY I MET CAROLINE ROMANO….it was early last year in 2019 when the gorgeous singer was already on the fast track to stardom. With an impressive resume of musical achievements including sharing the stage with greats such as Shawn Mendes, Daya, and Kelsea Ballerini to name a few the singer was ready to start her own career in the music industry.

At the time I met Caroline, she was working on several EPS “Me and You”, “Babysit” and “Damsel” and was so excited for what the future had to come. Check out some of these throwback images from our photo shoot.

Rival Magazine had the opportunity to catch up with Caroline Romano this year to see what the pop singer has been up to since the last time we spoke and let me tell ya, this girl has been busy!

For starters…she’s been writing new music, collaborating with amazing artists and just dropped her newest single, “I Still Remember” which aired on DISNEY RADIO for its worldwide premiere.

Check out the exclusive interview we did for Rival Online to learn all about the pop singers newest single and how you can download the song today!

RIVAL: Hi Caroline! It's so nice to speak with again, what a different world we have been living in since the last time we spoke! First off how are you doing? What have you been doing to stay creative during these ‘stay at home’ orders?

CAROLINE: Hey! I’m doing well! Thank you for asking! The world has certainly become a much different place than it was just a few months ago. Thankfully, I’ve been able to be quarantined with my family, which has made all the difference. I’ve really tried to use this quarantine period as a way to write music the way I did when I was thirteen, fourteen years old. It’s pretty much just me in my bedroom with a guitar and piano. I’ve really enjoyed exploring songwriting that entails simpler instrumentation and production in general. I’ve been writing a lot of self-evaluating songs. I’ve been in my head a lot due to quarantine, so I’m depending on songwriting as my form of catharsis more than ever. Overall, I’m just trying to use this time as a chance to explore creatively through music. There are no deadlines, no writing sessions, and no background noise. It’s just me and my thoughts and an instrument, which I think is a cool change of pace.

RIVAL: We just heard the latest single and it is fantastic! How did the collaboration with DJ R3HAB come about? Were you approached by him personally? Tell us the process on how that all went down.

CAROLINE: Thank you so much! This has definitely been one of my favorite singles to release, and I’m so proud of “I Still Remember.” I wrote this song in November 2018. I really loved it, and I knew I wanted to do something special with it once it came time to release it. I thought a DJ or remix element would fit perfectly with the song, so in 2019, I began looking for a DJ. R3HAB was the first DJ my team and I reached out to, because it was a dream of mine to work with him. I’ve admired his music for such a long time, and I knew he would take “I Still Remember” to another level. I was ecstatic to hear that he liked the song and was down to remix it! It was a very cool moment, and I’m so happy that it all came together the way it did. He is insanely talented, and he’s one of the kindest people I’ve had the pleasure of working with.

RIVAL:When you were writing “I Still Remember” did you ever anticipate it would be remixed and picked up by such a huge artist such as R3HAB? Was this the original vision you had with the direction of the song or was there a different version in your head before R3HAB came into the picture?

CAROLINE: I definitely saw a DJ coming into the picture from a pretty early point after writing the song. I thought it was really special, but I knew an element like a remix or DJ collab would take it even further. However, I never in my wildest dreams would have predicted that I’d be working with R3HAB in 2020. I’ve been a big fan of his for several years, and he was more of a dream remix than something I actually thought would happen. So, to hear that he liked the song completely blew my mind. At that point, I remember saying, “Do whatever you want to the song, I know it will be awesome.” And it was! The first pass I heard of the remix was better than I ever imagined it would be. I trusted his vision with the song 100%, and he killed it, like always.

RIVAL: Any future collaborations in the works you can tell us about?

CAROLINE: There are definitely plans to collaborate with other artists and DJs in the future. It’s something I love doing, and I have several ideas and plans in the works. No names I can say right now, but hopefully in the near future!

RIVAL: The song has such a feel-good beat and I can see this being a HUGE summer hit. Do you have any other projects in the works, possibly an EP or Full-length album? If so, are the vibes of your new music similar to ones in  “I Still Remember” single or will you be experimenting with different sounds?

CAROLINE: I’ve been working on putting out a collection of music for quite a while now. It’s something I want to make sure I feel completely ready to put out, but I feel that time getting closer and closer. With everything I write, I try to have a pretty diverse mix of sounds. Everything definitely falls under the pop category, and I’d say I definitely lean towards that upbeat, feel-good sound that “I Still Remember” has. But, there are plenty of songs I’ve written that are really dark and moody. I’ve been really into super stripped down songs lately. I don’t go into writing a song trying to keep a specific sound in mind. I think that kind of comes naturally as an artist, it’s like your signature. You can recognize that it’s a Caroline Romano song, no matter how different they sound from one another. That’s what I love about writing music, particularly a collection of songs. You get to make each one entirely different from one another.
