What is it about Sophie Powers that’s so electric? Is it her hyperpop tunes infused with raw lyrical vulnerability? Her edgy-pop-princess wardrobe – which she designs herself – that she dons during captivating live performances? Maybe it’s all these things combined, when met with her passion for storytelling and mission to empower others through music.

Sophie is all about validating your emotions (by means of revealing her own and asking … ‘don’t you relate to this?’). Her debut single NOSEBLEED, followed by her 2022 EP ‘Red in Revenge,’ detail the well-founded angst of Gen Z, caused by the infinite flow of unfair expectations placed upon them. Characterized by a spirit of dissent, her music is an anthem to Gen Z-ers and women alike, encouraging individuality and radical celebration of one’s authentic self.

Her latest single Obsessed details the experience of a blithe young girl who grows romantically infatuated with someone. It begs the question: is it really so bad to be obsessed? Following the release of her new single, Powers is hitting the road to open for Waterparks on their national tour. She’s also planning an all new EP drop. We chatted with the hyperpop princess about all things songwriting, dream collaborations, and the fashion influences that make her own designs so empowering and eye-catching.
