Who are you?" and "Cotton Candy Skies" are part of Ava Breeze's new journey

Ava Breeze is a multifaceted artist recognized as the "Face of Child Hunger" in the national "Feeding America" campaign. Ava has appeared in multiple national advertisements and has modeled for brands such as Neiman Marcus and Chick NYC. She is also an advocate for children with special needs with the "Ava’s Advocacy Army" campaign in honor of her sister (@lyra_smiles) who has a rare disease called DHX-30.

Along with music, Ava is also an actress, and we’ll be able to see her in the role of Judith Reardon in the upcoming comedy streaming series “Irreverend”

In this interview, we talked about her song "Who are you?" which approaches a sometimes unanswerable question: Who are we? Do we change depending on who surrounds us? Who are we deep down? Who do we associate with? Who can we trust?

On the other hand we got "Cotton Candy Skies" which is the opposite of ‘Who are you?’. This song is your summer chill vibe, and just about the perfect song for summer.

1. Ava, what’s the story behind “Who are you? What was your idea with this song?

My idea for the song “who are you” stems from the idea that we are constantly trying to define ourselves and others, and it’s an unanswerable question. We do however sometimes create different versions of ourselves, trying to please others. So many versions, that maybe we lose sight of our core. Then there is disconnection, when we part ways, from people, possibly the version they know will never be seen again. It’s meant to be a melodic thought-provoking journey.

2. Who is Ava Breeze today, at the time she is reading this interview?

I am confident, hopeful, and ready to continue my journey. I am ever growing and changing and don’t try and squeeze into anyone else’s box they have me in.

3. You said in an interview that this is the most challenging song you have worked on. Why is that?

“Who are you” was the hardest song I’ve made to date, because it’s harmony laden and production heavy. The producer I worked with on it, became too work laden to complete it, and I had to make a new plan to complete it. I contacted Joey Pietro who worked with me on “Dirty Shoes” walking into the middle of someone else’s project wasn’t easy because it’s so conceptual. What blossomed from this chaotic moment is two versions I love equally! The version that I truly envisioned, and a version with his interpretation!

4. The concept of this video is so magical, nostalgic and theatrical. Who came up with the idea for this?

This song is complicated to put into a video, because a video defines the song in a way. With dance being a form of self-expression, it made sense to use dance, and keeping the dancers in silhouette allows your mind to truly take a journey….

5. And then we have “Cotton Candy Skies” in which we see a different Ava, different sound, very fresh. What does “Cotton Candy Skies” represent for you?

“Cotton Candy Skies” is the first “pop song” I’ve written, but it’s based on a feeling. The way it feels to be in California, just taking in it’s beauty! I worked with Justice Rivera on this song and he created the It “feel good” summer vibe instrumentals. The listener can imagine being in California or imagine their own fav. Place. It takes me to California beaches and staring into the gorgeous skies at sunset.

6. Based on your response to the questions of who are you today, would you say you are more attuned to “Who are you” or “Cotton Candy Skies”?

I feel like both of them are equally a part of me. If we don’t ask fundamental questions like that you miss growing as a person, but I also live in the moment and relish the good times like Cotton Candy skies.

7. The music industry is very competitive, what advice have you received worth remembering and following?

Don’t let the numbers get to you. There is an abundance of musicians and starting off in a huge industry can seem intimidating. Stay true to your art and as long as you are enjoying what you create, others will too. I’m not out here chasing fame! I am out here longing to be successful and make music!

8. Ava, we would like you to describe how you picture yourself within 5 years as an artist

I picture myself making music and having the opportunity to work with other musicians and perform with them and tour with them.    It won’t be easy but I’m going to put in the work until I get there. I also think Once I’m 18 I will start acting more and be seen on regular tv or a movie role.

9. With which artist would you like to share the stage someday?

I would love to share the stage with an artist like Sarah Cothran. Her music is so beautiful and I feel like our songs would mesh well together.
