TAYLOR CASTRO PRESENTS “JADE” HER MOST PERSONAL SONG

Taylor Castro has confessed that her best connection with music is generated at the moment she writes. “I’m a storyteller. Writing the songs is what I’m good at, and I’d like to think I’m good at sharing their stories. There’s nothing I love about doing this more than that moment when the lyric finally comes to you: when the eyes go all wide and it’s at the tip of your tongue before finally leaping out into existence. There’s nothing like that and, in all the places I’ve tried to belong, I’ve learned that it’s been in that moment all along”.

This sweet girl grew upright in the middle of Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in a large, rural/suburban area with lots of horses and greenery. She’s been singing for as long as she can remember and even participated in musical theatre from an early age.

Today she presents “Jade”, the song that she has considered her most personal work lyrically and musically. “Jade is about adolescent friendship that fades during the transition into adulthood, as people begin to slowly walk towards their side of humanity. It’s a reminiscence and reflection on regret. It’s the realization that the loss of innocence began, in and of itself, with the epitome of purity. Lastly, it’s a call back home, to that suburban cul-de-sac. It’s a song that forgives itself, digging up the dusty toy box and making it new again”, she said.

The song starts with a melancholic symphonic intro that then drifts into a subtle piano and guitar accompaniment and returns by the end of the song. Taylor Castro’s voice invokes nostalgia and pain for something that was and has changed over time.

The intimacy that the song achieves and the state of vulnerability in the face of relationships that life presents us are some of the aspects that surely make this song so personal for Taylor. “After seven years of trying different sounds, I finally feel like I’ve found mine. It’s then only fitting that the story the lyrics tell would be the most personal and genuine I’ve ever released too, the artist said.
