Ridley Asha Bateman

9-year-old Ridley Bateman began her career just two years ago as the face of Dominos Pizza’s National Campaign alongside NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin. Who could have imagined that she would co-star next to John Malcovich in the feature film “Shattered” soon after? Even further than that, she now plays a pivotal role in Netflix's feature film "Lou" and we absolutely had to go and ask a couple of questions to this very young, rising star.

Ridley Was born in Los Angeles and she grew up immersed in the industry as her Mom is working actress and her Dad is one of the top stunt performers in the world. She has citizenship in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom and can speak some Swahili as her mom was born in Tanzania and her grandmother’s side of the family still live there.

More on "Lou":

Thinking she’d put her dangerous past behind her, Lou (Allison Janney) finds her quiet life interrupted when a desperate mother (Jurnee Smollett) begs her to save her kidnapped daughter. As a massive storm rages, the two women risk their lives on a rescue mission that will test their limits and expose dark and shocking secrets from their pasts. Academy Award winner Allison Janney and Emmy Award nominee Jurnee Smollett star in Lou, alongside Logan Marshall-Green and Ridley Asha Bateman. The film is directed by Anna Foerster from a screenplay by Maggie Cohn and Jack Stanley, with Bad Robot’s JJ Abrams, Hannah Minghella, and Jon Cohen producing.

What can you tell us about "Lou" and your role in it?

Lou is an action, adventure, female-driven thriller! My character, Vee, is Hannah’s daughter who is played by Jurnee Smollett. My character gets kidnapped at the beginning of the movie and that sets the whole adventure off!

Vee is innocent, kind, and brave. She sees the good in people.

What's the most fun part about being an actor?

I love being an actress because I get to express myself through character. I also get to meet new people and learn from them… And the craft service is awesome! Yeah, Nutella and strawberries!!

And what's the least fun bit?

Well, there was a scene in the movie that was supposed to be on a cold day but it was so, so hot! I had to wear a woolen sweater and I was boiling! So… itchy, thick sweaters on hot summer days. Yeah, that wasn’t fun.

What sort of roles would you like to play in the future?

I would love to do a comedy and play a character who makes people laugh and have fun. I would also like to be an action hero! I also like the idea of playing a character from history.

I understand that you enjoy singing a lot. Is that something you see yourself doing more of in the future in a professional way like you do with acting?

Yes! I love to sing! I sing all the time at home.

Who are your favorite singers, bands and/or musicians?

Ariana Grande, Beyoncé and Billie Eillish.

And when it comes to acting, who are your role models?

I really like Zendaya! And my Mom, who helps me with my auditions.

Did you always want to try acting or is it just an opportunity that came to you?

I always wanted to be an actress. My Mom, Dad, Aunties, and Uncle are all in the Entertainment Industry and it always looked really fun. I hope I can do this for a long time.
