“Protégé” Is the New Song by Sumi X That Invites You to Reflect on Where and Who You Place Your Idolatry

Upon hearing it, you will immediately be drawn to the rhythm of the single “Protégé” which is highly catchy and will surely make your head move. It is a soft and very seductive sound, in which Sumi's voice blends perfectly.

"Protégé" delves into the theme of the search for truth and the fight against the human tendency to idolize figures and objects. On socials, the artist shared the following reflection about the song: “‘Protégé’ is about a messed up mind game that we ALL play with ourselves in different ways. In dating & relationships, haven't you ever put someone on a pedestal thinking they were just such a catch… subconsciously putting them “above” you? In the process you end up slowly and subtly shrinking yourself to please them… usually out of desperation for them to love you! The irony is the second you start doing that they start pulling away… That's life. We're all attracted to humans who are fully expressed.

This introspective approach gives listeners the opportunity to reflect on one's beliefs and the journey to finding authenticity in a world full of distractions. The music of this song is tremendously captivating. Something about it immerses you in an ethereal reality, with pop sounds mixed with electronic touches and well-marked beats.

Sumi's voice feels soft like velvet, at times it even seems like she makes no effort to achieve the tones because her voice flows so naturally that it feels casual. But don't be overconfident because soon the artist makes an admirable vocal display in high and deep notes that makes you remember the power of her voice, which feels like chocolate mousse. The background vocals add another layer of depth to the song.

This girl, based in Los Angeles, goes from success to success. She was born in Pittsburgh, where she fell in love with music at the early age of eight years old as she watched her older sister play the flute in the marching band.

She started songwriting and learning to play guitar, all while running her company, a 200-person IT and management services company, with which she won numerous awards and media recognition, including Inc Magazine's “30 Under 30”  and appeared in making Inc. 5000’s  "fastest growing companies.” But after 10 years, she decided to go for it – sold her company and moved to Nashville to “come out” as an artist. What a few years ago was a dream, today is a reality of melodies.

With 'Stay With Me', 'Electric Baby', and 'Bad Decisions' her interpretive and creative quality was clear to us, with “Protégé” Sumi consolidates her position and makes her audience dream of much more.
