PEYTON GILLILAND IS REDEFINING HARD ROCK WITH HER LATEST SINGLE: FUNERAL
I have seen the future of rock, and her name is Peyton Gilliland. Within her first year of music production, Gilliland has already worked with some of the world's most renowned producers, including Lincoln Parish (Cage the Elephant), Brian Chirlo (Amy Winehouse, Paramore, Snoop Dogg), and Mads (Imagine Dragons). In fall 2023, Gilliland will release her debut EP "Lipstick & Lithium," which features the powerful lead single "Devil’s Daughter." Gilliland's latest project promises to deliver a lyrical punch with every guitar-drenched track, and she’s a John Lennon International Songwriting Competition as well as the John Lennon International Songwriting Competition. Described as "dripping with elan and nuanced timbres," Peyton Gilliland is confidently making a name for herself.
"Funeral" is Peyton's brand new single/video. I've got to admit I fell in love with this track. Peyton's voice is astonishing, reminiscent of Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) and Amy Lee (Evanescence), two of my favorite female rock singers. Modern hard rock is difficult to define, but this track falls under this category. Take a pinch of Gothic with a sprinkle of pop, and you get an outstanding song. The vocals are perfectly complemented by the instruments, creating an enchanting atmosphere. "Funeral" will stay on my playlist for a long time. It's full of emotion and energy and will surely become a classic.
The video is simple, but in its simplicity lies its beauty. We get Peyton dressed in black (in line with the occasion). We switch between black and red lights, creating an ominous atmosphere. As the song progresses, we see Peyton passionately singing along with the music. We get to witness her incredible vocal range and powerful performance. The video is a perfect representation of the song, and it will surely be remembered for a long time. By using a minimalistic approach, the video leaves a lasting impression and allows the viewer to focus on the emotion of the song and the power of Peyton's performance. The use of black and red lighting also adds to the atmosphere and creates a sense of tension and drama. The video effectively captures the mood of the song and makes it an unforgettable experience. The video's success is a testament to the artist's vision and the production team's hard work. It is an excellent example of how a simple and powerful concept can create a lasting impact.
"Funeral is a song about shedding your past and being your true self. It’s the classic coming-of-age story with a different metaphor. The idea is to bury the past and move forward with the lessons it taught to be stronger and better. The lyric “It’s our last goodbye” is to say that the people who have mistreated and wronged you will no longer have the power to do so because you are taking that power back."
"Funeral" marks the beginning of her upcoming EP. I can't wait to discover what she has in store for us. She won a place on my playlist, and I hope she can do the same for you. She's done a great job with this single, and I'm sure the EP will be even better.
