Nikki Paige throws "Jolly Good Fellow" out the window with new birthday anthem

"Even if You Yak I Got Your Back" - N.P.

Used to defying expectations and always exploring wild sounds in seach of the perfect pop banger, Nikki Paige's newest party anthem "Happy Birthday Bitch” takes a very different approach to what a pop banger is by taking a full dunk in the waters of Techno and coming out with the most club-ready piece of music I've heard *all year*.

Nikki is well as a prolific and gifted songwriter, signing her first publishing deal as one at the tender age of 11. But of course, if she weren't singing her own songs we might not be talking about her today, and she's as versatile and skilled as they come, swinging easily from a Rock & Roll edge all the way through R&B, Hip Hop, to Pop and even lending her vocal prowess to EDM tracks pretty frequently.

EDM is exactly what we've got for you today with Nikki's newest song being a surprise release from the artist whose previous hit was the equally eclectic and racy party anthem "Bunny Hop". Though "Happy Birthday Bitch" offers a much more stripped-down look at her songwriting, it still shows off her arduously refined skills in the way that she so confidently uses repetition and sampling to drive the purpose of the song forward. Make no mistake: Arriving at that clarity and simplicity doesn't come easy, and her credentials more than testify to the fact that she's earned being able to do so much with so little.

I don't really think I have to tell you just how catchy this song is, how inviting its groove feels on the feet; that much you can just appreciate the second you find your head moving to the beat in the most natural and involuntary way possible. What I do feel bears pointing out about this song is that its straightforwardness comes from a genuine place of fun and even love. "This is a surprise birthday song for my friend." revealed Nikki on her Youtube Channel "We recorded it in 3 takes and in 15 minutes," she adds. However, what started like a cute tongue-in-cheek gift between friends quickly snowballed into something more, as everyone who listened to it basically demanded Nikki release it to a wider audience ASAP.

As it stands today, the song has garnered well over 60k cross-platform streams in under a week. Not bad for a song that was never even meant to see the light of day outside a small group of friends. I would seriously consider sending this song to your own buddies during their upcoming celebration, hell, this might be a new classic.
