Mike Farris's Soul-Stirring Cover of "Honeysuckle Blue" Featured on Kevn Kinney Tribute Album, "Let's Go Dancing"

There are few things as powerful as a heartfelt tribute. It is a beautiful way to honor legendary artists and their contributions. One such tribute that stands out is Mike Farris' soul-stirring cover of "Honeysuckle Blue." This captivating rendition will be featured on an album compilation titled “Let’s Go Dancing,” dedicated to esteemed guitarist Kevn Kinney of Drivin N Cryin.

The 90s were a prosperous time for Farris, who initially belonged to the rock band Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies. It was not until 2002 that he turned to gospel music and released his first solo album, "Goodnight Sun." This was followed by "Salvation in Lights", “The Night the Cumberland Came Alive” and "Shine for All the People," which won him a Grammy Award for Best Roots Gospel Album.

"Honeysuckle Blue" holds a special place in the hearts of Kevn Kinney fans and Southern rock enthusiasts alike. Its breathtaking melody and profound lyrics have resonated with audiences throughout the years. Farris's rendition adds a brand new layer of depth and emotion, paying homage to the original while infusing it with his own unique style.

The immensely talented Kevn Kinney is being honored with "Let's Go Dancing," an incredible project that showcases various artists such as Alejandro Escovedo, Ike Stubblefield, Shelly Colvin, Dylan LeBlanc, Tom Gray and many more. All who have been influenced by the impact of Kinney's work. This impressive music tribute serves a double purpose - celebrating Kinney's greatness in his craft while supporting philanthropic causes. Fans not only get to enjoy incredible music but also contribute to several meaningful charities, such as SIMS Foundation, How Big Is Your Dream, Out of the Woods, and FarmLink. These charities support mental health, education, children with spinal cord and brain injuries, and partnerships between farmers and food banks. Creating a positive impact on the community.

Southern rock is a genre that embodies the spirit of the South, blending elements of rock, country, and blues. Kevn Kinney's music, along with his band Drivin N Cryin, has played a vital role in shaping and defining this genre. Farris’ cover perfectly captures the essence of southern rock, with its soulful vocals, brilliant guitar riffs, and a timeless quality that transcends generations. Through this cover, Ferris perfectly represents the heart and soul of Kinney's music. A sense of nostalgia for the South is expressed in the lyrics, with references to honeysuckle, magnolias, and other Southern symbols. Numerous artists have covered the song and it is now a staple on classic rock radio. However, I must say Ferris' cover has now become my favorite.

Mike Farris' rendition of "Honeysuckle Blue" is a testament to the enduring power of music and the art of paying tribute. This cover showcases the talent and passion of both the performing artist and the honoree. Through this project, fans can celebrate the legacy of Kinney's work while contributing to a charitable cause. So, let us embrace this soulful tribute, immerse ourselves in the enchanting world of southern rock, and celebrate the indelible impact of Kevn Kinney.
