“Leverage The Tides” of Rock Alongside Trace Remains
Post-hardcore quintet Trace Remains is finally dropping their highly anticipated album "Leverage the Tides," representing a new chapter for the band, a time for creativity and artistic evolution. This collection of songs has both new tunes alongside previously released singles, promising an experience that will delight rock fans and even those still on the fence, not sure if post-hardcore is for them.
The album starts with a familiar song, "Sold My Soul," bursting with energy and unapologetic confidence, setting the stage for the journey ahead. "Fire In The Hole" is next, filled with aggressive guitars alongside energetic drums; this is where their quintessential post-hardcore style is on full display. Even a little bit of heavy metal can be discerned in this song, reminiscent of the hooks found in Iron Maiden and Pantera tunes.
We continue our journey and land on "Defy You." Guitars are again the spotlight of the show; however, Trace Remains takes a different route, delivering a punk-infused anthem. The title track "Leverage the Tides" is another gem. The rhythm is a little slow, feeling more like an alternative rock tune paired with heavy metal vocals.
"Read It and Weep" wins the best title of a song award. Again, we switched gears! Post-grunge is now on the menu, with raspy vocals and magnetic guitars. If you're a fan of bands like Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots, with this tune, you will find yourself at home. "Rocket Surgery" follows and is a peculiar song. Being only 52 seconds long, it is the most aggressive and punk of the bunch. Two words describe it perfectly: short and sweet.
"Silent Bell" will thrill fans of mid-00s rock bands with its fast-paced drums and amazing guitar riffs. This tune could easily be aired back in the golden days on MTV, placed alongside My Chemical Romance's "Helena" and AFI's "Miss Murder."
Contrasting with previous offerings, "Over the Dying" is more methodical. Drums are more prominent, paired alongside melodic vocals and a chord instrument. Closing the album is "Bruised Not Broken," a melancholic, slow-paced ballad that Trace Remains chose as a poignant and emotional finale. The beautiful acoustic guitars accompanied by the bittersweet piano melody create a haunting yet alluring atmosphere, the perfect way to wrap up this journey.
Trace Remains has delivered a masterpiece with "Leverage the Tides." This album has something for everyone. Into fast-paced heavy metal? Consider it handled. Prefer in-your-face punk songs? They got it! Or perhaps you’re drawn to the intensity of aggressive post-hardcore? Well, good news—they’ve got that too!
