Kinneret casts Chromatic new release - "Wizardry"

Unapologetically psychedelic and as colorful as you'd expect, 20-year-old viral sensation Kinneret immediately proved to be a mystifying and thoroughly hypnotic artist of very exultant vision. Her unique pop sound is colorful and euphoric, but it's often laced with some gritty trap beats that sink their teeth into you and just don't let go until you're vibing and bobbing along at the very least.

Kinneret self-describes as a "psychedelic indie space cowgirl," and I think that alone gives you an idea of what not to expect out of her music. There are no stiff structures or harsh brooding edges, her grace comes less from an assertive aesthetic challenge and more from free-spirited pixie energy. If all music ultimately makes a statement, I think It'd be wise to say that she is more concerned with nourishing the alternatives and spreading good vibes than she is with haughty takedowns of the status quo.

The Colorful Journey of this indie space cowgirl has been quite stunning so far, especially considering the fact that she hasn't been releasing music since about 2019. Kinneret's growth has been quite impressive, with over 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify and an onslaught of Viral moments, particularly thanks to her single "No wind Resistance" which has gone viral not once or twice but three times thanks to TikTok, gathering around 70 million plays total on both platforms.

Still riding on the momentum of this viral success, Kinneret has been steadily releasing music, with the latest release being a magical single titled "Wizardry" all about the magic of being yourself.

“I needed to remember how it felt to be a kid, with the whole world as my playground. Eventually, I realized that there is beauty everywhere, even if it’s hidden behind sorrow. We are all wizards living in our own storybooks. Once we realize that we have the power to change the world around us, the stars come out.” - Kinneret

This song is priming fans for the eventual release of her upcoming 3rd full-length album, which will feature Dev Lemons, MKULTRA, 070 Sebastian, SpaceKing, and more. There’s an upcoming music video for it to be dropped before halloween ends. The video was realized with the help of Phoebe Jane Hart (the visual artist best known for the Purple TV viral sensation that has amassed 8B views on TikTok) and 070 Sebastian (a prominent member of 070 Shake’s creative collective).

Kinneret certainly follows a lot of the patterns you recognize from pop. She has a very lush and bubbly sound, primarily digital and shiny-new, but there are some subtle intricacies to her melodies and her lyrical structures that you just cannot easily account for when trying to piece together the musical lineage from whence she arrives. There are some elements -particularly vocals- that seem to fit into dream-pop and baroque simultaneously. I think I might have noticed a faint pulse of Hypnagogic-pop that leans more into late 90s new-age electronic music rather than the more generalized 80s nostalgia trip you normally find.
