Fully embracing the ethos of Cyndi Lauper’s legendary “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”, the somewhat hilariously named Girl Group Boys Worldbroke into the music scene with live-wire energy, intense choreographic prowess, and a set of bold vocal performances that are equal parts attitude and passion. These young talents were discovered and brought together by KYN entertainment, who recruited each of them through their individual performances across social media platforms, something akin to a modern-day musical dream come through, thanks to the power of social media exposure.

Their infectious bubble-gum and cheeky late 90s Nickelodeon energy is impossible to ignore, especially in their newest music video "Something In The Water", where they carry themselves as seasoned professionals that are confident in their talent and comfortable with each other. It's fair to say that they seem to be following in the footsteps of the legendary Spice Girls, who I suspect would be more than willing to give them their Spice Seal of Approval.

Merely a week after the release of their debut EP  "While You Were Out", on April 9th. B.W. reached #1 on Amazon Music’s “Breakthrough Pop” playlist, and then they went on to break the 6 million streams mark on Spotify in under 3 weeks. If this is not a sign of great things to come, I don't know what is. Could we be witnessing new Pop Culture Titans on the rise? Only time will tell, but for now, let's just get to know them a little better:

Can you take me behind the inspiration of "Something in the Water"?

We didn’t write the song ourselves, it was written by the amazing Tayla Parx and her team who we have worked with on several songs now. We did find our own personal meanings while recording and rehearsing this song that made us feel attached and inspired by it. Some of us thought of the feeling you get on a first date with someone and some of us described the song as that feeling when you have butterflies. We hope everyone who listens finds their own meaning with this song! Hopefully, it makes you want to grab a camera and take pictures with your friends while having a blast! That was the inspiration behind the music video, a perfect night with your best friends.

What was it like shooting the music video?

Shooting this music video was so fun !! Everything we did in the video really encapsulates how the song makes you feel, and that was really important to us. It's also such a different vibe than we’ve ever done. We hope people love it as much as we do !!

Favorite lyrics on the track?

“I don’t know about forever, but I know about tonight” This lyric encapsulates the overall feeling of the song and reminds us to live in the moment.

Can you take me through the process of picking songs for your debut EP, While You Were Out?

We all sat on the couch in our old house and played all of the songs we had. We sat there with our eyes closed trying to figure out a way to make the songs cohesive in some sort of way. A bunch of conversations and laughing later and we stumbled upon the order that we have now! We presented our reasoning to our team and the rest was history.

How important is it to you to be a role model for young girls?

Being a role model is extremely important to us because we feel like in society today, girls especially are made out to be rude and catty towards one another and we feel like we’re breaking the stereotype by proving girls from all over the country can get along and be the best of friends!

Refinery29 named you one of the 14 most influential Gen-Z "people doing the most with the least", how does that feel?

It’s an honor being referred to as one of the most influential people of Gen-z. We want to inspire and motivate those who are constantly working towards their dreams every day. We are up for the challenge!
