Emily Jackson Exposed by the WOLF MOON
Courage could be one of the words that better describe Emily Jackson, apart from talent. Years ago, she made a hard decision. She stopped her career in the music industry because she felt that music was not her.
“I wasn’t happy with the music I was making. It wasn’t me and there were all of these obstacles that kept coming up along the way that were just signs that it somehow wasn’t meant to be”, she said in an interview for CelebMix.
That’s how Emily gave up a label contract as a teen to study acting at the prestigious CalArts School of Theater. Even though her acting career has landed her roles in movies like ‘Incarnate’ and the latest season of ‘House of Cards’, she kept hearing the question, “Why aren’t you singing anymore?”.
And if you need the courage to stop, you also need it to continue, to start again, and that’s what she did. She moves from Los Angeles to New York where she found herself surrounded by new energies leading her back to the world of music. In that moment “Oh Mother” was born, a song that, initially began as a letter to her own mom, and later grew into an open letter to herself and the world.
Today, "exhilarating" in music and “mesmerizing in vocals” as it has been considered by specialized magazines, Emily Jackson returns with her new song “Wolf Moon” from the upcoming ‘PHASES EP’.
The repertoir of musical skills in Jackson’s favor have evolved with this EP, as she demonstrates her ability as a producer with "Wolf Moon" and "Phases", both produced entirely by her. On the EP as a whole, the titular track, 'Wolf Moon' -Today's release-. Is a song that, in the words of the artist: “Is about the ironic timing of finding one's self through love and loss. If the timing isn't right, when will it be? And if it will never be right, how do we keep ourselves as present in the moment as possible to allow love into our lives?"
Emily's voice in this song is perhaps at its most wonderful here, and it works as the perfect amalgam between the dramatic needs of her lyrical proposal and the musicality that complements it. You can really touch the pain with your fingers, the feeling of heartbreak and despair that the song conveys; a forlorn howl cutting through the night.
With this new Single, we now come to put the upcoming "PHASES" on the highly anticipated list. Emily Jackson plans to return to touring to support the EP with a string of shows in early 2023, while working on her first full-length record in the meantime.
